...Apps 13, London

Hi all,

Apps13 was a great event organized by UKOUG for Hyperion community. It was an opportunity to be updated for the product developments, hear about products or services that are offered to support the day-to-day tasks and to networks with other Hyperion customers and professionals.

I attended the event for two days and I had the opportunity to get introduced to the new features of versions 11.1.2.3 and 11.1.2.4, to meet ex-colleagues and to listen to the stories of other Hyperion users. Interesting part of the event was the social time when we drunk, ate and danced until late.

The key points that are in my mind after these two days are:
HFM v11.1.2.3 is considered to be more stable version comparing to v11.1.2.2.
ADF technology improves the performance of the consolidation as well as the user's experience.
There are rumors that version 11.1.2.4 will be released on March 2014 and it will reduce consolidation time at least 50% comparing to 11.1.2.3
Oracle plans to create an HFM version that will be installed and maintained in the cloud. I am looking forward to the final product with a lot of questions in mind!
Oracle works on a new feature to have HFM presented in smartphones and tablets.
One tool for all the log files. The administrator will not have to browse different folders in order to read the different log files.
  • Internet Explorer 9
During a discussion with other Hyperion users, it became obvious that IE9 can be considered as a solution for most of the user issues in version 11.1.2.x
  • Participate in usability testing
I participated in a usability test during which a scanner captured the movement of my eyes while reading a webpage. It was a bit spooky but I enjoyed it and I am looking forward to the next test.

Hope to see you in Apps14,

Regards,

Thanos
